- Constance's eighth, and final, spouse was George Hightower of Newport Beach, California. He acquired the estate that would become The Haunted Mansion in 1877. George was the wealthiest of her husbands and his possessions found in the attic were the most opulent due to his penchant for far-flung voyages. Additionally, he is believed to have been a kinsman of famed collector Harrison Hightower III, the proprietor of NYC's Hotel Hightower. After his passing, he was laid to rest in a crypt situated on the mansion grounds with a bust portraying his likeness. Constance subsequently placed her hatched into the head of the statue.
